Eric Galvin to Lead United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut’s 2019 Community Campaign

ConnectiCare Executive to Chair $14.25 Million Fundraising Effort o Support Local Children and Families.

Hartford, Conn. (September 16, 2019)  – Eric Galvin has been named Chair of United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut’s 2019 Community Campaign.

Galvin is President of ConnectiCare, with more than 20 years of experience in the health care industry. In his new role as Chair, he’ll serve on United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut’s Board of Directors.

“I’m proud to continue my service to children and families in the community as Chair of this year’s United Way Community Campaign,” said Galvin. “United Way is the power and support behind many of our most critical community organizations and programs. It connects people who need help with the right resources and access to the services that can assist them,” he said.

United Way brings people and resources together to address immediate needs and find long-term solutions to challenging problems. It does this by investing in community organizations, leading community change initiatives and bringing together people and resources committed to the well-being of children and families in our community.

United Way’s annual Community Campaign offers individuals an opportunity to give to directly to United Way and to qualified nonprofit agencies. Contributions directed to United Way ensure that:

  • Children succeed in school;
  • People get jobs and are financially secure;
  • People are healthy; and,
  • Basic needs are met during tough times.

Funds given directly to United Way will ensure local children, youth and families have opportunities to succeed, such as:

  • 3,400 children participating in high-quality early childhood education programs, preparing them for success in Kindergarten;
  • 550 people getting jobs with skills and training that meets the needs of area companies; and,
  • 6,000 people benefiting from healthy food and nutrition programs with 14 million pounds of food distributed through community partnerships.

Donors may also designate their contributions to other nonprofits through the Community Campaign.

Galvin follows 2018 United Way Community Campaign Chair, Bimal Patel, President, Hartford HealthCare Corporation-Hartford Region.
