Understanding
your Virtual Care Options
Telehealth
Visiting a doctor’s office is no longer the only way you can get care. You can also choose to schedule virtual video visits with your doctors who offer them. This is called telehealth and it’s something you arrange directly with your doctor’s office.
Not all health care providers offer telehealth so be sure to check with yours, and to ask for details about how they set up virtual appointments.
Many ConnectiCare plans also include a general medical physicians telemedicine benefit through Teladoc. Teladoc’s staff of board-certified doctors are available by phone or video chat for non-emergency health conditions. Teladoc doctors are not your regular doctors, but this virtual care service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Teladoc is offered in both English and Spanish.
Doctors can review your medical history, answer questions, help manage non-emergency medical conditions, and prescribe certain medicines. Prescriptions can be sent to your local pharmacy, if needed.
Please note, not all ConnectiCare plans offer a Teladoc general medical physicians benefit, so be sure to check if your plan does. Copays may apply for any virtual care you receive. Check your plan documents (member contract or subscriber certificate) for more information. If you’re a Medicare member check your plan’s Evidence of Coverage.
Teladoc Primary360®
Starting July 1, 2022, some plans will also receive digital Primary Care Physician (PCP) services through Teladoc Primary360®. Teladoc’s network of PCPs will create a personalized care plan, help manage conditions, and prescribe the medicines you need. They can also refer you to providers in our network like specialists or mental health professionals, as well as lab, imaging, and testing.
With Teladoc Primary360, you can:
- Choose your PCP to care for your needs.
- Schedule video or phone visits with your PCP Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
- Discuss your medical history, health challenges, and goals as well as schedule annual wellness exams, lab work, and prescriptions – all in one place.
- Have 24/7 access to a dedicated Care Team that can help you stay on track after wellness visits and answer follow-up questions.
In addition, members will also have access to Teladoc’s network for virtual dermatology and virtual mental health which also includes Psychiatrists, Psychologists and Clinical Social Workers.
Here’s How Teladoc Works:
When should you use Teladoc?
- When you need non-emergency care but don't want to leave home or can’t get to a doctor’s office.
- When your doctor isn't available.
- When you’re on the go or out of town.
- Teladoc® is in-network care, but it doesn’t replace the in-person care of your primary doctor. Only your doctor can provide the full range of care to meet your health needs.
