Enroll in a Medicare Plan in Connecticut
Am I Eligible for Medicare?
To join a ConnectiCare Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plan, you must:
- Qualify and be enrolled in Medicare Part A (you are 65 or older, or under 65 with certain disabilities); and
- Be enrolled in and continue to pay for Medicare Part B; and
- Live in the state of Connecticut
You can enroll when you first become eligible for Medicare (three months before the month you turn age 65 until three months after the month you turn age 65).
If you delayed your Medicare Part B enrollment, you can still enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan. You will be able to enroll three months before your entitlement month and ends either on the last day of the second month after the Part B enrollment month, or the last day of your Part B initial enrollment period, whichever is later.
If you receive Medicare benefits due to a disability, you can join a Medicare Advantage plan three months before until three months after your 25th month of disability.
Medicare beneficiaries may enroll only during specific times of the year. Visit our Medicare Enrollment Periods page to see the best time to enroll and other details about enrollment timelines. What happens next?
We will send your application to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal agency that runs the Medicare program, for approval.
You should get your ConnectiCare member ID card and Welcome Kit in the mail about seven business days after you receive our confirmation letter. If you signed up for paperless communications, most of your materials will be available to you in your member portal. A ConnectiCare Customer Service Representative will also call you to answer your questions and help you understand your benefits.
During one of these calls, you will be asked some questions about your health. This is because CMS asks all Medicare Advantage plans to do a Health Assessment for members. It will not affect your membership in ConnectiCare in any way. And your answers may help ConnectiCare to serve you better.
