Good Deeds is a team-based volunteer program that brings together ConnectiCare members and employees in service to local communities.
ConnectiCare, with the help of Leadership Greater Hartford, finds non-profit organizations that could use some extra help. We connect our employees and members to work on meaningful projects with the ultimate goal of improving places where we live and work.
Here is what we have accomplished already
Earlier this year, ConnectiCare employees and members put their hearts, heads, and muscle into two projects:
- Brightening a busy-but-neglected corridor of a busy Hartford roadway used by neighborhood school children, residents, and commuters.
- Planning a first-ever Family Summer Fest for the Community Child Guidance Clinic in Manchester. The clinic wanted a fun way to get information out to residents about its child and family-focused mental health services.
Good Deeds volunteers gave two thumbs up about their experience.
“I am left with the best feeling ever… I would like it if it was an annual event,” said one Good Deeds participant.
“I really enjoyed working with everyone. It was a very nice experience … thank you!” said another.
“The true success of the projects was a group of strangers coming together to achieve a common goal,” agreed Yvonne Alston, a ConnectiCare employee who participated.

Have questions?
We thought so. Here are the answers.
Who can volunteer?
ConnectiCare health plan members age 18 and older.
I work full time. Can I still join?
Yes! Groups decide on meeting times and days. Meetings can happen in the evenings and weekends, by phone or online. Time commitments vary by project.
What organizations would I work with?
You will work with one of these non-profits: Hands on Hartford, Capital City Education Alliance, or Chrysalis Center.
How will I know what to do?
Leadership Greater Hartford helps with training and team-building. Your team will be set to dive right in.
What will I get out of this?
Volunteers make a real difference in their communities while forging new friendships. You may be someone who volunteers already, but you’re looking for some variety. You may not have a current volunteer passion, but you’d like to find an organization that could use your help.
